Celebrating 100 years: 1908 - 2008
100 years: a long time in anyone's language
Adelaide High School, established in 1908, is the first free high school in South Australia, catering for over 1100 students from Years 8 -13. Since it was founded Adelaide High School has been recognised as a successful and innovative school offering students care and attention in a supportive community environment.
In 1979 Adelaide High School was designated as South Australia's only Special Interest Language School, enabling students to enrol to study two of the seven languages on offer. Complementing the Languages Other than English specialisation is a strong program in English as a Second Language. Uniting all elements of the school is an appreciation of, and respect for, a diversity of cultures and practices.
Adelaide High School is also DECS' provider for the Italian Professional Learning Service.
Our curriculum, school processes and student groupings challenge, engage, enrich, support and accelerate student learning. Pastoral Care programs provide opportunities for students to learn about themselves and to develop skills to contribute positively to our school and local and global communities.
