A Hymn to the Hateful

There is no THEM | Not THEM vs US | There is only US

A Hymn to the Hateful is a brand new play written by internationally acclaimed playwright for young people, Finegan Kruckemeyer.

This emotive and insightful work has been specially commissioned for Adelaide High School’s Running With Scissors Theatre for Young People.

A Hymn to the Hateful is an important inquiry into the spread of hatred in today’s society, performed by students for their peers.

Synopsis

'A work as amorphous and unwieldy as the emotion it discusses, 'A Hymn to the Hateful' is a sprawling, passionate enquiry into hate in all its forms. Born from a rich dialogue with Adelaide High School's Running with Scissors Ensemble, the play is a conversation and a chorus, a confession and a call both to arms, and against them. Unpacking the hate whispered, the hate shouted, the hate thrown across a schoolyard and typed into a keyboard, 'A Hymn to the Hateful' is a young person's enquiry into a feeling known to all, and owned by none'.

Public Performances: 20 and 24 May 2019 |  7.00pm | Adelaide High School Hall

Audience: 15+
