Introduction
Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. What if one day you were to go there? Where would you go ? What would you do ? What would you see? What would you eat ? So much to do and so little time to do it ...

But this WebQuest will help you answer these questions. You must plan an itinerary for one full day in Paris using the Internet sites listed below and resources from the Resource Centre.

Task
During the next week or so you will use your lesson and homework time to research and complete an itinerary in the form of a travel brochure for your day in Paris. Make it as informative and creative as you can.

Process
1. Prior to starting this assignment we will look at travel brochures and discuss the type of information which is included in them, how they are set out and the type of language used to describe attractions.

2. Everyone who goes to Paris visits the Eiffel Tower, but what would you do there ? Paris is at your fingertips with your computer and with the resources in the RC. Look at a number of Paris' attractions and choose your favorites. Don't forget you've got to eat too! It's going to be a busy day! Some ideas on the information you need to include on each attraction can be found below. Once you have compiled your information IN YOUR OWN WORDS, you are to design a travel brochure advertising your day in Paris. The criteria for this brochure can be found in the Evaluation section below.

3. You must also include a bibliography with your work. A bibliography template can be found here.

4. You must also include a map of Paris with the sites you visit and the restaurant you eat at clearly marked on it. A map of Paris can be downloaded here. This map is to be submitted with your brochure.

1. Attractions
Choose 3 museums/monuments/tourist attractions that you would like to visit during the day. Find the following information on each site.
  • Name
  • What is it ?
  • Where is it ?
  • When was it built and why ?
  • Why is it famous ?
  • What Métro (train) stop  do you need to get off at ?
  • What are the opening times of the site ?
  • How much does it cost to visit it ?
  • Why do you want to go there ?
  • When you present this information attach a picture of each of the places. You can download these off the internet.
2. Restaurants
You've got to eat lunch. With the hectic pace you are setting you'll need energy and food. Using the restaurant sites below, find one restaurant to eat in which is near one of your attractions.
  • What is the name of the restaaurant ?
  • Where is it ?
  • What Métro stop  do you need to get off at ?
  • How much will lunch cost ? (meal for 2 people)
  • Give some more information about the restaurant and explain why you chose to go there.

3. Les bateaux mouches
A visit to Paris would not be complete without a ride on a famous "bateau mouche" which travels along the River Seine. This will be the culmination of your day - a relaxing trip on the Seine whilst having dinner.
  • When did "les bateaux" commence operation ?
  • Between what times do they operate ?
  • How much will a dinner cruise cost ?
  • How long will the trip last ?
  • Where will the boat go ?
  • What will you see ?
  • When you present this information attach a picture of a "bateau mouche" and the route of the trip. You can download these pictures off the Internet.
