Research
skills - finding and using information - are essential for success at school
and beyond. Whether you are searching for information in books, on CD-ROMs
or the Internet, you will be using similar techniques and skills.
Computers and the Internet have increased the amount of information available for your research, but searching can be very time-consuming and confusing. These pages are designed to make the research or information process easier for you by providing links to tips and tutorials on skills such as searching the Internet, taking notes electronically, an easy way to do bibliographies etc.The Research or Information Process
As the diagram below shows, there are 6 elements in the Information Process. You may go straight through each step or you can also back track and repeat certain steps. Whatever the reason for your search for information, it is useful to know how different skills are needed for each step, and how the whole process works.
