The season started off with a bang at the rowing camp at Roonka Scout Camp, just outside Blanchetown. There were 56 students, 9 coaches, 2 teachers and 4 wonderful rowing parents to enjoy a great week that allowed for lots of great training, racing and bonding.
Returning from rowing camp it wasn’t long before the season kicked off at the West Lakes rowing course. This regatta saw Adelaide High School in many competitive races with some outstanding results which left other schools in shock.
Six regattas later and summer break is upon us: the rowing program has had one of its best starts to the season in years, with many medals in all age groups. Heaps of competitive, close races and improvements in fitness and power.
The recent Twilight Regatta held on the Torrens Lake was a successful endeavour. This included multiple crews making the finals. It is with thanks to our very supportive parent group, hardworking coaching staff and the supportive school environment that our program is reaping the rewards.
Over this festive season all students have a summer training program to do at home before we all meet again in January to kick off our second rowing camp for the season. This season our January camp is located at West Lakes, allowing for the young athletes get a good night’s sleep in their own bed every night.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the rowing program this season, the students, coaches, parents and supporters.
