5 highs 2017

Australian 5 Highs' Cricket Carnival

Since 1976, Melbourne High School and Sydney Boys' High School have played for the Cec Rubie Trophy.

This trophy was contested in December by the schools' 1st XIs in a two-day fixture and was named after Cec who was President, Secretary and Treasurer of Sydney High Old Boys' Union. In 1981, Sydney Boys' High School was celebrating its 75th Anniversary and invited Brisbane State High School to Sydney, Melbourne High School invited Adelaide High School and the first interstate Carnival began. This first Carnival involved two-day fixtures. The Carnival was in recess in 1982 and in 1983 Adelaide High School invited Perth Modern School to Adelaide to join them in their 75th Anniversary, and this became the first Five Highs' Carnival. Perth Modern School hosted the Carnival in 1991 and then withdrew. Sydney Grammar was invited to join for one year only, in Sydney in 1992, before Kent Street Senior High School became the Western Australian representative in Adelaide in 1993.
