Students at Adelaide High School have the opportunity to join a debating team that takes part in the Debating SA Inc School competition.
There are teams at the Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and Senior levels. Most teams comprise four team members.
The competition debates occur in the evenings at a variety of venues including Wednesday nights at Adelaide High School for the Year 10 and Senior levels.
More information can be gained about the competition by going to the Debating SA website.
This website explains the competition and shows the current ranking for the school competition and also has a number of useful resources to help students develop their skills.
Debating is a challenging intellectual sport. It develops a range of skills within our students including an ability to think logically, organise one’s thoughts into a persuasive speech, think on one’s feet to deliver rebuttal. The ability to work effectively in a team is also an invaluable skill that becomes well developed in our debaters.
