Not only for school but for life
Not only for school but for life. These words guide an education at Adelaide High School, and the skills our sons have developed through their involvement in the curricular and co-curricular programs show that for the staff and the school, these are not empty words – they are the guiding principles of an education at Adelaide High School.
Adelaide High School has provided our sons with extensive curriculum offerings, allowing them to undertake subjects which have assisted them in developing their skills and knowledge-base for their chosen careers. We are indebted to the many staff members who willingly gave up their time to provide extra support for our boys so that they could achieve their best.
Our sons have also been provided with a vast array of co-curricular opportunities which they have taken up, including involvement in the extensive sporting program – and especially rowing, participation in international study tours and then acting as a homestay for a student from one of the school’s sister schools, being part of the vibrant performing arts program, undertaking numerous student leadership roles for which specific training was provided, developing citizenship skills through the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the SAPOL programs, and involvement in the Melbourne Exchange. In each of these co-curricular programs they have worked with staff who mentored them to develop and hone an extensive repertoire of skills, including the ability to balance the various co-curricular commitments with their studies.
What Adelaide High School has provided our sons has not just been an education: the boys have developed an extensive skill-set in a number of areas, they have learnt to take advantage of the opportunities they are provided and face challenges head on. The values, the knowledge, the skills and the experiences our sons have acquired through their education at Adelaide High School will assist them non scholae sed vitae – not only for school but for life.
