As part of the Turn Your Health Around program, Year 10 students in Physical Education classes have again run a Physical Activity and Nutrition Expo for the Year 8 students.
The aim of the Turn Your Health Around program is to educate students on the benefits of physical activity and making healthy nutrition choices, and the Expo presents these ideals with students teaching or mentoring younger students.
During the semester, the Year 10 PE students developed physical and nutrition activities which they presented to the Year 8 students during the Expo on the afternoon of May 22.
The Year 10 students organised a variety of fun activities including smoothie and healthy food preparation; football, soccer and basketball skills; badminton; skipping and circus skills, with a number of them commenting that they had a new-found appreciation for teachers and the work that they do!
The Year 8 students who participated in the program had positive comments about the experience, with most saying that they enjoyed the Expo and the opportunity to undertake a number of activities during the afternoon.
