Fourteen students, accompanied by staff members Eva Wilhelm and Rhys Lewis, left Adelaide on Saturday, November 20 to spend 4 weeks in Borneo as part of a World Challenge Expedition.
Their expedition will see them trekking through the jungle, climbing Mt Kinabalu and at present they are working in a village assisting in the construction of a concrete greenhouse and staying in a home for disabled adults. The students have already decided that they are going to buy a washing machine for the village, and seem to be coping well with the challenges that have come their way.
World Challenge is the original school expedition company providing overseas educational expeditions to school and college groups. The expeditions teach life skills and expand minds outside the classroom.
Prior to their expedition, the team was fully engaged in the planning process, from researching their destination and planning their itinerary to fundraising and participating in a training expedition. The whole expedition process has seen the students develop skills not only for school but for life.
The group are due back in Adelaide just prior to Christmas.
