Balinese school children get new uniforms thanks to 2012 AHS Prefects
The staff and students at the schools in Pengalusan and Cegi in North Eastern Bali all have new uniforms thanks to the fundraising efforts of the 2012 Prefects.
This follows the purchase of 20 desk chairs for the schools in 2011 from the fundraising money of the 2011 Prefects.
The Prefects’ fundraising project for 2012 was to provide funds for new uniforms for the students at both Cegi and Pengalusan. $1000 from the funds raised from the Prefect Casual Day, BBQ and Talent Quest were sent to the East Bali Poverty Project to purchase the uniforms and, such was the sum donated, that uniforms were also able to be purchased for the staff at both schools.
Given the Adelaide High School sponsorship of the uniforms, the AHS logo is also embroidered on them
The 2012 Prefects decided to continue the Prefect sponsorship of the East Bali Poverty Project which assists families in North Eastern Bali who were living in abject poverty without water, sanitation, roads, schools, health facilities and electricity. Given the Adelaide High School motto is “not only for school but for life”, the principles behind the East Bali Poverty Project – “helping people to help themselves” – were similar to that of the school.
The 2013 Prefects will continue the school’s support of the Pengalusan and Cegi schools via another yet to be specified project.
